MINNEAPOLIS, MN, June 19  -- Innovelis proudly announces the release of BudFits, the first product to prevent iPod and iPhone earbuds from falling out during physical activities such as skateboarding, snowboarding, running, cycling, and other types of exercise.

Constructed of soft, flexible rubber, BudFits snap onto Apple(R) earbuds and then wrap over the top of the ear. In doing so, they ensure iPod and iPhone earbuds will not fall out and also maximize user comfort by eliminating the need to wedge earbuds into the ear canal to keep the earbuds in place. BudFits quickly snap onto earbuds to provide extra support and comfort, yet they can be easily removed for times when extra support and comfort is not necessary.

"Since Apple introduced the iPod in 2001, iPod earbuds have reached iconic status and are now the outward symbol of iPod ownership," said Innovelis CEO Eric Wengreen. "Yet the resounding complaints are that iPod earbuds are uncomfortable and fall out of people's ears during physical activities."

A graduate of Stanford University's master's program in Mechanical Engineering, Wengreen first conceived the idea of BudFits during a morning run.

"The day after I got my iPod, I was really excited as I rolled out of bed to take it running," said Wengreen. "I hadn't gone more than 20 steps when one of the earbuds popped out. Instead of enjoying my new iPod, I became increasingly frustrated with the earbuds. Despite my best efforts, they refused to stay in my ears. I knew there had to be a better way."

While a fellow at Stanford University, Wengreen won the silver award in the James F. Lincoln Foundation's national design contest and was given the Philip Barkan Memorial Award. Wengreen has assembled a team led by Wes Schwie that includes MBAs and engineers with a passion for creating uncommonly innovative products.

BudFits are compatible with all iPod and iPhone earbuds made by Apple Inc. and are available through Amazon.com and select retailers for $8.99 to $9.99.
